| description |
Big Jim Pendergast was my friend,
someone for whom I had great
affection while he was alive, and the
memory of our friendship still means a
great deal to me. It would be impossible
for me to write anything definitive,
because I really don't know that much
about him — the way we oftentimes
don't know that much about our
friends, and care less. All I can do is
present to you the Jim that I knew, the
Jim, as I said in dedicating Lawrence
Doyle to him, that was my first friend
on Prince Edward Island. I am sure
some of you here knew him far better
than I did, but none of you knew him
the way that I did, and Fm proud to
present to you that Jim, in the hope
that seeing him from my angle may
enrich your own vision. As I say, he
was my friend.
| |
