The land on which the Dutch Inn sits was once owned by John and Leroy MacKinley. It was purchased by the Thompson brothers who, in 1974, built a hotel on the land. They operated the hotel for a few years and later sold to a Mr. MacFadyen who also operated it for several years.7 In 1984 it was purchased by the current owners. The hotel had seen several name changes over its nearly forty year history. Its first name was the Bel-Air Motel, which was changed to the Cadillac Motel. For one year it was called Meadowland Motel before being changed to the Dutch Inn. It current name is Howard Johnson Dutch Inn. The hotel has also seen several renovations and expansions over the years. It continues to operate as a successful business in Cornwall.
