The first liquor store in Cardigan was located in the basement of the Scrimgeour house on Water Street. Russell MacLaren was the proprietor. George Gallant worked there. The next location was also on Water St. in the former ice cream parlor operated by Marion Mulligan. Francis Shepherd was the proprietor. In 1964, a new building was built on Chapel Road for the liquor store and Francie Shepard was manager. George Wilson was an employee there. In 19– the liquor store was changed over to a self serve operation.
