The Big Elm

The Big Elm

Known to be the largest tree in Kings County and possibly on Prince Edward Island, The Big Elm is located in Glencorradale. The tree is so large that two, possibly three men cannot reach each other’s hands around its base. In 1727, a great forest fire ravaged Kings County, from East Point to the Hillsborough River. However, The Big Elm withstood the fire. The tree, which is an American Elm, is believed to be over 500 years old.
